Alupe University has reinforced its commitment to quality service delivery and continuous improvement through a two-day training programme for staff appointed as ISO Champions.
The training, held on 29th and 30th September 2026 at Alupe University, equipped the Champions with knowledge and practical skills to support the implementation and maintenance of the University’s quality management systems across academic and administrative units.
The programme was facilitated by the Director, Performance Contracting and ISO Certification, Dr. Wilbrodah Muchibi, and Mr. Angore Mbitha of Alupe University. The facilitators guided participants on the ISO 9001:2025 Quality Management Standard, with emphasis on its role in strengthening service delivery, accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Dr. Muchibi underscored the importance of ISO Champions in translating the University’s quality management requirements into practice at the departmental level. She encouraged the Champions to take an active role in creating awareness, supporting compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement within their respective units.
Also attending the training was the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development), Prof. Mahero Toboso, who emphasised the importance of embedding quality in the day-to-day operations of the University. He noted that quality management should be viewed not merely as a compliance requirement, but as an institutional culture that contributes to efficient service delivery, accountability and improved stakeholder experience.
The training focused on the responsibilities of ISO Champions in promoting compliance with institutional procedures and quality requirements within their respective departments. Participants were taken through proper documentation, identification of gaps in service delivery, monitoring of compliance and opportunities for continuous improvement.
As part of their responsibilities, the trained ISO Champions will serve as quality advocates within their respective units by creating awareness of ISO requirements, supporting compliance and identifying areas that require corrective action or improvement.
The Champions will work closely with the University’s quality management team to support the consistent implementation of quality standards and ensure that established procedures are effectively followed across the institution.
The initiative forms part of Alupe University’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional systems, enhance accountability and improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to students, staff and other stakeholders.
Through the ISO Champions programme, the University seeks to embed a culture of quality, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement across both its academic and administrative operations.
