Innovation took center stage at Alupe University as students unveiled cutting-edge solutions and engaged industry leaders during a vibrant Innovation Week and Career Day that took place on the 11th and 12th of March, 2026 at Alupe University.
The two-day multidisciplinary event, themed “Innovation and Commercialization for a Sustainable Future,” brought together students, industry players, and educators to showcase creativity, innovation, and career readiness. It provided a platform for students to present innovative projects and entrepreneurial ideas addressing real-life societal challenges.
Exhibitions featured technology-driven solutions, agricultural innovations, and community-based initiatives. Notably, the winning project was a computer game designed to combat deforestation and raise awareness on climate change.
Speaking during the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Barasa emphasized the role of innovation in driving socio-economic transformation. “Universities must nurture creative thinkers and problem-solvers who can translate knowledge into practical solutions for society,” he said, urging students to go beyond classroom learning.
The Career Day attracted key industry stakeholders, including Konza Technopolis and the Media Council of Kenya, who engaged students through mentorship sessions and career talks. “Today’s job market requires adaptability, digital skills, and continuous learning,” noted the keynote speaker, Mr. Alexander Kamunyu.
Students also interacted with potential employers, explored internship opportunities, and received guidance on diverse career pathways. One student participant remarked, “This experience has opened my eyes to the possibilities of turning ideas into impactful solutions and viable careers.”
The event reaffirmed Alupe University’s commitment to promoting innovation, research, and practical learning, while preparing students to become transformative leaders and job creators in a rapidly evolving world.
