Alupe University on 27th March 2026 hosted the Counsellors and Psychologists Board (CPB) in a strategic stakeholder engagement aimed at strengthening professional training, accreditation, and collaboration in the fields of psychology and counselling.
The CPB, under the State Department of Public Health Professional Standards in the Ministry of Health, visited the University to conduct a consultative forum on the indexing of students pursuing Psychology and Counselling programmes. The engagement also served as a sensitisation session, equipping students with critical knowledge on professional registration and compliance with national standards.
This initiative marks a key milestone in preparing graduates who are not only academically qualified, but also professionally recognised and eligible for registration as certified practitioners in line with the Board’s mandate.
Speaking during the engagement, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Barasa, accompanied by the Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Dr. William Okedi, commended the CPB for its proactive approach. He noted that the exercise affirms the University’s commitment to offering relevant, industry-aligned programmes that meet both national and global professional expectations.
Alupe University continues to position itself as a hub for quality training in behavioural and mental health disciplines. Through the School of Health Sciences, the University offers a Bachelor of Science in Medical Psychology, while the School of Education and Social Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
These programmes are designed to meet evolving market demands and are strengthened by the University’s strategic proximity to several health facilities, providing students with valuable opportunities for practical training and professional exposure.
