AU Athletes Shine at Athletics Kenya National University Championships

The entry of Alupe University into the AK National University Championships that were held from 17th to 19th April was remarkable. The three-day evet was held at Kenyatta University bringing together athletes from various universities across Kenya.

The tightness in the heel-to-toe competition was not only intense but one that could as well be described as unfamiliar grounds for familiar athletes.

Alupe University hails her finest champions once again. Sprinter Kizimbi Waswa receives accolades for his prowess in the men’s 100M race.  In him, there were positive energies that were marinated by; composure, eye on the truck, and trust in his training. He bagged a prestigious bronze medal. In the 100M women’s category, Shamnese Kazira beat her competitors and brough home another bronze medal.

Kazira yet again shone in the long jump competitions, jumping herself to a silver medal. Another competitor, Erick Kwemoi joined the party by winning Bronze in the Men’s Javelin.

Dennis Korir also had a stellar performance, narrowly missing out in the men’s 200M final. Still at the same event, Brenda, Kiptoo, Ng’etich and Vincent Ochoki also made commendable work in carrying the Alupe University flag higher at AK championships.

Following these promising results, Alupe University thus will send five athletes who will make up the AK University team to take on the who is who in Athletics come June in Nyayo Stadium. The 5 Athletes will also be in contention to represent the country in the upcoming African University Games in Cairo, Egypt in August, 2026.
