orientation ceremony led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research, and Student
Affairs (ARSA), Prof. Margaret Orina with a call to excellence to community of scholars.

‎Prof. Orina congratulated the students for securing a place at the university and recognized the
sacrifices made by their parents, guardians, and families to support their academic journey.

“Alupe University is more than just a place of learning; it is a community of scholars, innovators, and leaders. Our niche is in health sciences, agriculture, environment, and applied research. More
importantly, our mission is to shape graduates who can transform not just their lives, but their
communities, their nation, and the world
,” she said.

The DVC urged the new students to take their academic journey seriously by attending classes faithfully,
engaging with lecturers, and making the library and laboratories their “best companions.” She cautioned
against shortcuts such as cheating or plagiarism, noting that such practices rob students of their true
potential.

‎Prof. Orina further encouraged the freshmen to embrace discovery early on by participating in projects,
competitions, and research. Beyond academics, she reminded them that university life is also about
character building and leadership development. She urged students to join clubs, volunteer in
community service, respect diversity, and prioritize their mental, emotional, and physical health.

‎Reiterating the university’s values, Prof. Orina stressed the importance of discipline and reminded
students of Alupe’s zero tolerance for drug abuse, violence, and misconduct.
