It is my distinct honor, on behalf of the Alupe University Council, Management, Senate, staff, and students, to convey our warm greetings and best wishes to the organizers, participants, adjudicators, and all stakeholders involved in the 98th Kenya Music Festival, under the inspiring theme, “Enhancing the Creative Economy through Artistic Expression for Sustainable Development.”
Alupe University is proud to be a steadfast partner of the Kenya Music Festival, supporting its mission from the sub-county to the national level by sponsoring class 2043K for the third year running. As one of Kenya’s premier platforms for nurturing talent, preserving cultural heritage, promoting innovation, and advancing the Creative Economy, the Festival plays a vital role in national development.
In the era of Competency-Based Education (CBE), the Festival complements STEM and Social Science Pathways by integrating the Arts to nurture creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving, the competencies essential for producing well-rounded, future-ready graduates.
We are especially delighted that this year’s Festival is being hosted in Western Kenya, a proud milestone that highlights the region’s growing contribution to higher education, culture, and innovation. Universities provide the academic, creative, and research ecosystem that enables the Festival to flourish, while the Festival enriches universities by fostering artistic excellence, talent development, community engagement, and interdisciplinary learning.
Having had the privilege of serving for many years on the Kenya Music Festival National Steering Committee representing universities, I have witnessed the Festival’s enduring contribution to education, talent development, and nation-building. This longstanding partnership continues to strengthen our shared commitment to advancing creativity as a catalyst for sustainable development.
The Alupe University Council, under the leadership of its Chairperson, Dr. Virginia Wamuyu Kimani, remains resolute in its support for the Kenya Music Festival and other initiatives that promote creativity, innovation, and excellence in education.
