Today, the Vice Chancellor, together with the University Management Team, held a consultative meeting with hostel owners operating around the university to discuss preparations for the upcoming first-year student intake scheduled for September this year.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the need for all landlords and hostel operators to strictly adhere to the Commission for University Education (CUE) regulations on student accommodation. He further appealed to the stakeholders to be sensitive to students’ needs, including offering guidance and counselling and supporting students who may be experiencing challenges by referring them to appropriate channels for redress.

In light of the prevailing economic challenges, the University Management Team also took the opportunity to negotiate for more favourable accommodation terms to ease the financial burden on students and their families. The stakeholders welcomed the dialogue and expressed commitment to working collaboratively with the university in ensuring a safe, supportive, and affordable living environment for all students.
