Alupe University’s global footprints have been imprinted following its participation in the Kenya and China Higher Education Smart Education Exchange and High-Quality International Student Recruitment Matching Seminar, held early this week in Hangzhou, China.

The high-level forum brought together higher education stakeholders, education policymakers, technology innovators and international education partners from Kenya and China to explore new frontiers in smart education, digital learning ecosystems, and cross border student mobility.

Alupe University was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Barasa, who attended the seminar and delivered a presentation highlighting the University’s strategic direction, academic strengths and readiness for international collaboration.

In his presentation, Prof. Barasa showcased Alupe University’s commitment to technology driven learning, research led innovation, and industry responsive training, noting that smart education is central to preparing graduates for the evolving global knowledge economy. Prof Barasa emphasized Alupe University’s growing capacity in science, technology, engineering, health sciences and agribusiness, and its focus on practical solutions to community and national development challenges.

The seminar also provided a platform for matching institutions interested in high quality international student recruitment, with discussions centering on joint programmes, credit transfer systems, faculty exchange, collaborative research, and the use of digital platforms to enhance teaching and learning.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Prof. Barasa noted that Alupe University’s participation aligns with its broader internationalization agenda. He observed that partnerships with Chinese institutions offer valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, innovation in smart education technologies, and expanded learning opportunities for students and staff.

The Kenya–China Smart Education Exchange underscored the growing role of higher education cooperation in strengthening diplomatic, cultural and economic ties between the two countries. For Alupe University, the engagement marks an important step towards positioning the institution as a competitive regional and global player in smart education and international academic collaboration.
